since i don't have a picture of this famous tooth, here's a picture of reese reading. although "goodnight moon" is a good book, our current favorite is "brown bear, brown bear, what do you see?" that one always makes reese smile. if you are reading this please post a comment and tell me your favorite children's book. i'd love to know since we are growing the dowiak library. thanks! :)

a tooth! a tooth!
reese's first tooth is coming through! no picture yet b/c it's barely poking through, but i should be able to snap a pic next week. for some reason i feel extra excited about this tooth and am telling everyone about it. i know it's going to change her look, which i'm not sure i'm ready for, but this just seems like a big deal.

my new favorite - thanks to henry wise - is "ogres, ogres, ogres". jackson's favorite is any book that deals with cars, trucks or construction vehicles - probably will not be one of reese's favorites.
Hey Hilary. It's Tricia Froyd. I found your blog via Sarah Hazel's.
We have tons of children's books and it's so hard to choose a favorite, so I'll list a few that Becca has really liked:
We're Going on a Bear Hunt by Micheal Rosen
Barnyard Dance by Sandra Boynton
Moo Baa La La La by Sandra Boynton
Pajama Time by Sandra Boynton
Quiet With Cassatt by Julie Merberg and Susan Bober (sp?)
A Picnic with Monet by same as above
Mouse Paint by Ellen Stoll Walsh
Jamberry by Bruce Denge
Read Aloud Bible Stories Vol 1 and 2 (the first was given to her by CTK, so Reese probably has it too)
The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry and the Big Hungry Bear by Don and Audrey Wood
and one more...The Mitten by Jan Brett (I think the actual hard cover book is better than the board book since it has more description, but the board book is nice for little hands)
Just couldn't resist to comment on books. Hope it was okay I listed more than one. :)
I enjoy seeing your daughter grow and your love for her and for getting to spend time with her. It makes me like spending time with mine all the more. :)
It's so exciting Reese is getting a tooth!! That's a really cute picture you were able to take of her reading, I love it!! My favorite book as a little kid was BENJI (the dog)!! When I got older I remember loving the book James and the Giant Peach...and The Secret Garden.
Miles favorite book was The Giving Tree (although I recently just read it while pregnant, I don't know if I was a bit hormonal, but it brought a tear to my eye)!
Some leftover children's books in our bookcase include, but not limited to the following:
-The Beatrix Potter series
-Socks for Supper
-Goodnight Moon
-Pat the Bunny
-Big Thoughts for Little People
-Poems for Children
-Various Mother Goose books
Also, look for the Caldecott and Newberry award winners in the childrens section of Barnes and Noble. You can also ask for the HAISLIN reading list. This is something like the Houston Area something of librarian something something. Basically, it's the librarians of Houston suggesting some recommended reading for all ages through high school.
Hank is here...and he says his favorite book right now is Hatchet by Gary Paulsan.
James loves Barnyard Dance by Sandra Boynton. He is also really into the touch and feel books right now.
yes, "ogres, ogres, ogres" is a must have for every kids library! imagine 2 year old henry saying "pernilla is peppering her parsnip quiche." its awesome! we also really like "joseph had a little overcoat" and "the very hungry caterpillar."
thanks everyone for all the recommendations on children's books!! they all sound great! i'm going to slowly start adding to our library.
