we made it!

to the big grocery store and back that is. (click on the link to see the foods, prices, brands and words we see at the store.) we got almost everything on our list. the only thing we didn't find was thyme. there wasn't much of a selection of spices/herbs, so i think i'll need to find another store for that. anyway, the grocery store was a lot more like the stores we are used to than any of the other stores we've been to. it had lots of isles and cashiers, a deli section, produce, frozen foods, paper goods, etc. the produce section was like central market where you put your food on the scale and then print out the bar code. that meant we needed to know some of the words for the veggies/fruits if there wasn't a sign. the english-hungarian dictionary came in pretty handy. later down in the meet section a man stopped to ask us if we needed help. he taught us the words for chicken breast. that was nice. (side note: bio means organic here.) when you check out at the cashier and pay, you then put all your stuff back in your basket, take it over to the tables at the front of the store and put them in your own bags. we used our backpack and bags we brought from home. then we took the metro up one stop and walked a couple blocks home. mission accomplished!

after we got home i cooked dinner. gosh, it felt good! and, normal!

good job on the shopping trip.
