matson buddy update

matson david (aka: matson buddy) is an official citizen of the united states of america. we picked up his passport and certificate of birth abroad yesterday. he can now leave the country. ...i'm thinking vacation time!

he is growing fast. we don't know how much he weighs, but we can tell he's getting bigger. his middle is really elongating sending him into some 3-6 month clothes already. he's six weeks old today and nearing (i hope) sleeping through the night. he's a really good sleeper letting mommy get at least a four hour stretch of sleep at night, sometimes five hours and the other night seven and a half hours! wow! as nice as it was to go that long between feedings and get that much sleep i didn't really sleep that great. first i did the mom thing by going in to make sure he was still breathing and then i think my mind was waiting for him to get up. i was in and out of sleep thinking i heard him crying when it was really my husbands breathing i was hearing. the sensitivity in my ears has obviously really heightened. i have no doubt i'll hear him cry, but my mind thinks it hears a baby's cry when it's really not.

i LOVE that he doesn't need to be swaddled. it's so nice not having to mess with that. he sleeps the best on his left side, but rolls to his back during the night.

he is going through more diapers than i ever remember reese going through. it's amazing how upset he gets when he has a wet diaper. might i have an early potty user on my hands??? he's already in size three and tee-tee still finds its way out making the laundry pile grow.

he is a super sweet baby and loves when his mamma holds him. he's not a huge fan of the swing, but loves the vibration of the bouncy seat. he'll hang out under the baby einstein arches for a bit checking out all the colors, but what really sends him into a trance, and eventually to sleep, is looking at the light that came with the pack-n-play shining on the wall. i've been able to put him down several times in his bed with that light on and he quietly drifts off to dreamland. his eyes start rolling into the back of his head and he's out. it's wonderful.
