reese has this cute little video called "the letter factory" by leapfrog. it's great. she's really learning letters and their sounds from it. the above picture is how focused she is on the tv, no matter what's on. here are some examples of our conversations about different letters...
riding on the tram one day... "mommy, i see a rrr, rrr!" sure enough, there was the letter R on a sign.
"reese, what sound does the letter L make." "lollipop!" ha! in the video the all the letter L's are licking lollipops. brilliant.
"mommy, i found a ba!" for the letter B. she does the same for A, F, S, T, W, Z and she knows that F is for foot. she can pick out upper and lower case E too.
i was wearing an RUF (reformed university fellowship) t-shirt the other day and i asked her which letters she saw. when i pointed to the R she said "rrr, rrr", the U she said "up!" and F she said "fff".
i'm so proud of her!
on another note, i just want to remember these cute things...
i love listening to reese chatter in her bed before she drifts off to sleep at night or in the mornings before i unleash her for the day. :) she will literally lay in there for an hour before she goes to sleep just talking away. she talks about matson, daddy, mommy, bubble baths, living in "bupest" (with the s pronounced correctly like an sh in english), abc's, jesus loves me, airplanes, texas, gram+papa, grandma+poppie, "aminals. all dom dom." (translation: animals. all of them.), small bear, big bear, her friends, the bus, tram, villamos (tram in hungarian), play-doh, barney, baby bop, all barney's songs, etc, etc. ...all the people and things she loves! last night she kept saying, "member dat?" really loud. i don't know what she was referring to, but obviously something she wanted to remember. matt and i just looked at each other and took in the moment.
one more thing...
reese still loves giving matson kisses and is very quick to say she's sorry if she's bumped him or something. she's so sweet. if she gets in trouble or gets hurt and she doesn't want mom or dad to soothe her, she goes to matson. she has such a sweet heart for her brother. i hope it stays.

WTG Reese! She is doing great. Lilly is pretty good recognizing all of her letters, but isn't as good as Reese at the sounds....I may look into that video! Does Reese recognize her numbers? I've heard that's harder, and it is proving true for Lilly! I guess she won't be a math junkie like her dad :)
I love toddler "pillow talk" too; its the sweetest.
she's all over the map with numbers. she picks out the number 5 for the letter S. that's pretty good. :)
That video is freaky for how well it works. My kids watched it once and knew all their letter sounds. Seriously, it freaked me out.
I need my own Leap Frog video for several areas of my life!!
