at the table

it dawned on me the other day when we went out to eat that matson can sit in the highchair since he sits up so well on his own. it may seem like a small step, but it's really pretty huge! he doesn't like being away from the action very much, meaning he doesn't like staying on the floor when we are all up at the table eating dinner, so now he's a happy camper. before he could sit up we would have to hold him sideways on our laps while he would try his hardest to reach anything on the table including your plate full of food or the place mat with the plate full of food. thankfully he never successfully dumped anything on the floor. we had a few close calls though! we give him the little gerber puffs to give him something to do. it's great - as soon as the puffs hit the tray he is all over them! i don't think he's gotten one in his mouth on his own yet, but he sure tries! it's ab.so.lute.ly precious.

also on the matson front: he's eating all kinds fruits and veggies and has started meats too. i think he'll gain the necessary weight this segment of his growth. he's also transitioned into eating three meals a day and a quick nurse before bed. i love not having to feed him in the middle of the morning. it makes being out and about a lot easier.

he loves banging on things, chewing on things and grabbing everything. we've started doing some sign language. hopefully he'll start signing in a couple months. he's army crawling all over and trying his hardest to get the knees and arms working at the same time. it's SO fun to watch him learn this skill. he hates the nursery at church. when we sit on the back row {which is all the time right now} i can hear him screaming in the nursery. most other people probably can't, but i have a mother's ear especially for my little screamer. he has the sweetest giggle and his best tickle spot is around the collarbone area.

{you see those boxes behind matson in the first picture? those are the ones stacked in our dining room. it's lovely. we also have a couple of walls like that in our bedroom. romantic, huh?}

Dont worry about those boxes. you will get settled into a wonderful permanent home / state of organization. It may take longer than you want - but I know it will happen!! Hang in there!
