this is my idea of a perfect saturday afternoon at home with our children. i felt i had to make the clarification that that we were at home and had our kids with us because i have lots of other ideas for being out and about with the kids and/or with just my hubby.
after the beloved nap time dad takes the kids outside to play in the water. {i can not for the life of me get a decent picture of reese these days. it's driving me crazy! all she does is turn her head or cover her eyes, so that's why you are seeing more pics of matson baby on the blog lately.}

matson likes to climb in and out, in and out, in and out.

this is a bonus picture of matson baby in his full birthday suit {without anything showing}! baby bodies are so fluffy + amazing.

while dad + the kids enjoy a refreshing dip in the water i get to be inside all. by. my. self! what a concept! :) i streamed in our favorite radio station, austin's
KGSR and turned it up!

and then, i prepared dinner. vegetable kabobs simply seasoned with olive oil, salt + pepper.

grill 'em up! mmm, the blacker they turn the more i love 'em!

to me there is nothing better than a little shrimp on the barbie!
this is the recipe i used. garlic! garlic! garlic!

the whole shebang. DE-lish!

{those are roasted new red potatoes seasoned with olive oil, salt, pepper + thyme. they are an easy side dish. bake at 450 degrees for about 30 minutes stirring every 10 minutes. it helps to spray the pan before cooking to prevent the potatoes from sticking.}
to wash it down, a tasty homemade margarita.

the rest of the weekend was fun too including movie night, camera lens shopping, exercising, a visit from poppy and grilling burgers on sunday {after the torrential downpours}. we also had our recently widowed 87 year old neighbor over for dinner. it was a crazy time, as dinner time often can be, but he was prepared for that and had a good time. thankfully poppy was here to conversate with him! i hope your weekend was enjoyable like ours.
