my mom was here a couple of weeks ago for what i would call a longer-than-normal-visit. usually when she and my dad come in its friday morning to sunday after church which only gives us really friday afternoon and saturday together, so it was a real treat to have some extra time with mom, aka: gram. while reese was at school my mom, matson and i played around town. we shopped, drooled over the gorgeous plants and flowers at a local nursery, shopped some more, and went out to lunch.

sometimes i don't like hauling around my
big and heavy wonderful camera, so mom's small point and shoot camera came in very handy! sometimes i want one of those small-slip-in-your-purse-cameras so that when i
really want to capture a moment i can, but i know i don't
need it so it's hard to fork out the mulah. maybe if i win the lottery.
i know i've mentioned before, but the boy LOVES to be outside, so he thoroughly enjoyed eating outside!

the morning reese wasn't in school we headed to the zoo.

the orangutans gave us quite the show! the features were a mom orangutan breastfeeding her baby, the mom scooping up water in the orange pumpkin bucket and the baby peeing in the water. ha!

matson was fascinated by all the animals! reese on the other hand was having an off day. all she wanted to see were the giraffes, but when we got to the giraffes she looked for five seconds and said, "let's go eat lunch." all righty then...

oh my gosh, the big old looking elephant was hilarious! he was banging on the door to the zookeeper (don't know what else to call them!) with his trunk over and over and over. we watched for a good five minutes. he finally gave up.

{and, yes, it's november and my kids are in shorts and t-shirts. that's houston for ya!}
this lion got up close and personal with us. we thought he liked us, but we figured out it was the zookeeper with a bin of food behind us that we didn't see walk by! i'm glad he didn't want US for lunch!

mom snapped this picture because we just HAD to document matson's first carousel ride, even if it is a bit blurry. he could not take his eyes off of it nor stop pointing at it the whole time we ate our yummy chick-fil-a nuggets, so i took him for a ride after lunch. when we were in line he was literally jumping out of my arms to get on, but after a few circles he got a little wigged out and wanted down. silly boy.

thanks for a fun time, mom! come back soon!

What a big boy on that carousel! Lilly saw the picture and could not fathom a double decker merry go round. She told me it is her dream to ride on of those. At least she aims big ;)
what did reese say about the carousel pic? wish it was a bit clearer. it was fun visiting with you and the kiddos.
