our tree lasted on the floor for about 12 hours and i'm sure you can guess why! matson couldn't keep his hands off of it and we spent the better part of ALL DAY telling him "no touch" and redirecting him. after he went to bed we raised the tree! it made for a little less stressful december. i thought it looked pretty funny at first, but i got used to it and now i like it up there. matson couldn't reach it, it gave me room for all the gifts and you could see the whole thing from any part of the room.
the kids like this ornament the best... i think he came from a world market after christmas sale a few years ago. he reminded me of some my mom used to put on our tree growing up. the flying legs and arms are so fun.
and then it was christmas morning!! i didn't take a ton of pictures because i wanted to enjoy the morning, but i have a few. it was SO MUCH FUN watching the kids get SO EXCITED about everything they received!

oh boy! matson was so into opening the gifts and wanted to play with everything RIGHT then.
he got some matchbox trucks in his stocking and probably would have been just fine with only that, but we spoiled him more!
papa got to enjoy this moment with matson baby. i don't think he was so thrilled about the clothes, but I was! :)
dad couldn't get the toys out of the box fast enough!!

the look on reese's face as she opened each present was hilarious! it would change to a huge smile after she figured out what was inside.
the big gift for the kids was outside, so we bundled up in our pjs and stepped out into the cold for few minutes. they were all about the playhouse! although i had to take away the play phone pretty quickly b/c they couldn't share it.
we enjoyed having my parents at our house for christmas and then going to my aunt and uncle's on tiki island in galveston for christmas day. the kids loaded up on new toys and have been having great fun playing with all of them! i love new toys!one other chrismas thing this year...
reese had a christmas play at school. she wasn't in it though. in fact her class had a pretty lame part. they just stood up in their seats, turned around and said a scripture verse that was like 5 words. i was pretty disappointed about that, but there's always next year. she looked cute in her holly collar though!
so there you have it, our 2009 christmas is officially documented.

well, ya beat me on the Christmas post! Maybe February will be my month ;)
we finally took down the christmas tree this weekend b/c we were having company . . . didn't want to show them how we REALLY live!! christmas lights are still on the house though. it's been too cold to take them down! i crack up when i look out the window. i think our neighbor put his lights on a timer and forgot that they still come on every night!
