reese and matson were spoiled by having popcorn for dinner.
popcorn for dinner has been a family tradition in our family since my dad was a little boy. he grew up on a farm in northern missouri and my grandma cooked many hot meals during the week (way more than me for sure! but she had a huge garden with fresh veggies right out her front door - can you imagine?! i'd eat so many more veggies.), but she took sunday nights off which meant popcorn and ice cream for dinner. how cool is that?! my mom loved the idea so much she carried it into our family. i haven't started that tradition just yet, so it's fun for reese and matson to go to gram and papa's to have popcorn for dinner!
while matt and i were out gram read to the kids. her soothing stories put matson right to sleep. he doesn't normally fall asleep in the middle of the room.
matt had to go out of town on business that sunday night, so the kids and i got to stay a few extra days. it was a treat and i really got spoiled! my mom cooked dinner (i helped a little) and did clean up while i gave the kids a bath so we could be done at the same time and veg out together. we did a lot of fun things during the day, one of which was pretty neat. we went to the local library for story time which happened to be a special event that day. the talk was about brushing your teeth! it was cute and i even learned a couple things. and, the best part of all reese won a prize! she one two tubes of toothpaste, some kid flossers and an electric veggie tales toothbrush! pretty fancy! she loves it. so does matson. looks like i'll be buying one for him soon.
thanks for a great time mom and dad and for the break for me! we had a great time and would love to come back soon!
the next post will be about another one of our outings.

glad you guys had a good time. maybe we should start a new tradition with the grandkids of cake for breakfast. maybe my sticky buns count for that!
i think that's a great idea! doesn't grandparents mean spoil their grandkids?! :)
We have popcorn on Sunday nights, too!
