chuckwagon lunch and rodeo

the rodeo is gone, but we still have more rodeo fun to share...

reese's preschool had a chuckwagon lunch a few weeks ago. she has the most precious class - only seven kids. there were only five on this day, but one is missing for this photo. aren't they cute?!

the kids sang cute cowboy songs with fun hand motions.yee-haw she says!

at the lunch matson tried sneaking some food. i caught him red handed and documented it too!

ride 'em cowgirl and cowboy!

for the next several photos i think a good caption could be "we love tractors!" the kids LOVED climbing all over the tractors. this is a part of farm life life, isn't it?! would it surprise you if i said matson cried a lot when it was time to let someone else have a turn?

do you know how hard it is to get a bunch of kids to look at the camera and smile?! i think most of you can say yes! they played on this gator for a long time and had a ball - each taking a turn to drive.

then matson decided he liked having his own machine.he also loved the giant machines...
here's our crew. i'm not sure why matson was so upset in this picture, but i'm sure he recovered quickly.
i myself was pretty fascinated with the new baby chicks this year. (last year it was the birthing center watching a cow in labor! i could have stood there until that calf came out and i would have if i hadn't had my kids with me! i have this fascination about labor and delivery - not mine though, other people's. i really really want to see a live birth, but may wait until we are sure we are done having kids. in case you are wondering that conversation is on the shelf for a while.) okay, back to the animals...these little chicks are no more than an hour or two old.

the older chicks moved around more and caught the kids attention.
and of course the big chicks were cool too!
this is matson and his buddy, nate. they were born just seven days apart and their sisters were born just four days apart. wild, huh?!

and the best for last - the pony ride! i wouldn't normally splurge for the one minute pony ride that costs $6 per child, but since our tickets and up-close parking pass were free i did it and it was well worth it! reese had a ball and matson was the life of the show! he was hysterical! it makes me laugh just thinking about it now. he was waving to the crowd as he went around! my pictures turned out a little blurry, but that's okay b/c they really capture matson's pure excitement on the pony!

"sister, are you behind me?"

let the waving begin!

yeehaw!

someone wanted to stay on the pony. :(

the kids also got to go with their grandma and poppy one day. i snapped a pic when we did the hand-off at pappasito's (where we had our rehearsal dinner). grandma and poppy took off with the kids and left matt and me with a large margarita to start our daytime date at 11:00 in the morning!
rodeo 2010 was great!
