matson's first day of mdo

my matson baby started mother's day out today. i was a little emotional about it but oh how i was looking forward to it! i know it's not as big as starting school for the first time, but i've never left him anywhere like this before, so it's a big deal to this momma. this will be my first time since reese was born to have some day time hours all to myself. what will i do with myself?! i think i'll fill it up pretty easily. here's my big boy... can he get any cuter?!
he could barely wait for me to get out the door. he was handing me my purse and opening the door. he told me that morning, "play. kids."
of course there's the sibling photo that is so hard to get! believe it or not this was the best one. reese couldn't let matson be the only one with a backpack today. (she starts after labor day.)
i like to get a mom-child picture on first days of things, but that's pretty hard to do when you are the only adult. reese graciously took a pic for me. i like it even if matson was done with pictures by that time.
so, off he went for his first day of "school". his teachers say he played at this train table most of the time.
his teachers say he had a great first day. he didn't even cry when reese and i left. i was anticipating big tears, but he busied himself with playing the moment he walked in the door. when we picked him up he was playing on the playground. i called his name and he didn't even acknowledge me! he looked at me and turned around to continue playing. i'm taking that as a good sign that he likes it there and not an "i don't want to go with you, mommy" attitude. i'm sure it was a mixture of both, but whatever.  i'll get a little report paper of his daily activities when i pick him up (i love this!) and under "my disposition" he got "happy and friendly". the other choices are grumpy, sleepy, and teary.

i hope day two goes just as good. tomorrow i'll report on what reese and i did on our mommy-daughter date.

Awww....these pics are the best! You can just see how proud of himself the little guy is! Tyson's first day of school is next week. I am sooooo not ready for that.
