after dinner puppet show

during spring and fall we try to eat dinner outside as much as we can. so since the weather has been so good lately we are out there probably five nights out of the week. it's so relaxing to be able to enjoy our backyard with pleasant weather, and the kids sorta eat a faster dinner so they can get down and run around like while crazy people - so much better to do that outside than inside. that usually follows with a fun monster chasing game.

one night last week reese came up with the great idea of doing a puppet show for our post-dinner entertainment. she and matson got the puppets from inside and we helped set up a "stage" for them. there wasn't so much dialogue between the puppets as there was dancing and singing, including old mcdonald had a farm featuring...guess which animals??? the lion, chicken, duck and dog, of course! so without further adieu i present to you the backyard puppet show of spring 2011 by reese and matson...

(we are trying to grow a pot of wildflowers in that pot.)

i love this peeking over...
matson's expression in this one is just so funny...
the director came out to see the show for herself...
a behind the scenes shot...
bravo! bravo! great show, guys! :)
they had so much fun. we even got some video of it.

(i have to admit i've been trying to throw this piece of cardboard out in the trash for the past like 3 weeks, but it never happens. i keep putting it by the trashcan and the kids keep pulling it out. i also admit it's been a lot of fun and has kept them entertained a lot! you may recognize it from some previous post. they have danced, wrestled, eaten, colored, and played their hearts out on this piece of cardboard. i guess we'll keep it until it gives out.)
