our tree

i love our little tree. i'll admit i wasn't all that excited about pulling out the same old tree again this year, but it's a perfect size for our home. my brother and sister-in-law gave me this little tree before i was married.  now that we have children and a limited amount of space in our house, it sits on a side table in the corner of our living room. that might sounds weird that it sits on a table, but it's actually quite nice. we can see the entire tree and it's harder for little hands to get at it.

what makes the tree so lovable are the ornaments on it and all the memories they hold. some have been given to us, some i bought at after christmas sales, some our children made and a lot that we brought back from our travels and time in budapest.  right now i'm looking at the beautiful eggs we bought at a christmas market in prague, a little wooden horse my parents brought us from sweden, handmade porcelain hearts i bought from a hungarian lady, a couple of ornaments of mary, joseph and jesus made out of corn husks that i bought at the christmas market in budapest, wooden cut outs of the nativity that my parents brought back from jerusalem, reese and matson's little faces smiling back at me from school pictures, and their first christmas ornaments in the shape of a bootie.

oh, and the classic white lights with one twinkling strand!

It's good to find pleasure in the simple things of life and especially in those things that we thought we didn't think we liked anymore. The tree looks beautiful.
