reese and i got to see where matt spends his days. i like knowing where he works because i can picture him when we are talking on the phone or when he is telling me a story about work or the people he works with. gosh, i would be tired after the end of his work day from having to concentrate so hard to understand all the different accents! i was tired after talking to one girl for about 15 minutes! plus, the hungarians pronounce everything correctly, as they should, but we don't understand the correct version yet! we still have the american/texas way of saying things. hopefully those language classes will help!
this office is very different from his houston office. he downgraded offices. in houston he had a small, but nice office with floor to ceiling windows on one wall. here he's in a cubical shared with 3 other people! even the supervisors are in cubes. it's a very nice, modern building though.
we enjoyed lunch together at a little italian place a few blocks away from his building. one thing we've noticed about eating out is that your glass will tell you what you are drinking. since i can't get my beloved diet dr. pepper here, i settled for a sprite and matt had an ice tea. reese and i hope to meet matt for lunch at least once a week. we were so used to seeing him everyday for lunch that we miss him during the day now!
this was reese's and my first trip on the metro without dad. we felt totally comfortable, so i'd call it a success! i just have to be careful carrying the stroller up the stairs b/c the wheels get my pants dirty!

Hey Hilary,
Glad to hear you had a better Monday / Tuesday. I actually can't get to your blog comment back to me. How can I get to it? The security on this site is really good - so good I am having trouble getting in!
Just kidding. I found the comment.
Wow - I am in the dark ages when it comes to blogging!!!
No Dr. Pepper? I would die. lol
If you know any Embassy gals, they may be able to get the D.P. for you at the commisary. The commisary here has quite a bit of stuff.....
commisaries are great - they're good for shopping for groceries and clothes.
so glad that you're being encouraged and that ladies are being so willing to open up. in a short time you'll have made dear friends. we do miss you, though!
i wasn't sure if the commisary was open to non-military people or not. i should definitely hit it up the ladies i know who go there to get some diet dr. pepper! clothes there too? hmmm, do they have any style???
i am meeting up with a new friend tomorrow who is going to show me some places to go. so fun!
actually, you can go in as a visitor. i think you pay an extra buck or something. just flash your passport at the gates, and you get into the Emb., then they can tell you where the comi. is. Good luck :)Atleast, that's my understanding of how non personel get in:)
When Erin was a baby, I would put her in the baby backpack, put on her little Bell helmet, and ride a bike to Reese's work for lunch....at least once a week. Apparently our schedule became so predictable that all the neighbors along the 2-3 mile route would come out on their front porch and cheer for us as we rode past them.
Old work friends from back in the day still talk about our young family adventures.
sarah, that sounds like it's out of a movie!! are you sure that was really you and erin on the bike???
i love hearing hazel adventures!
