today it was a chilly 11 degrees below freezing! it's hard to get out on those days, but we did it. we all put on our layers, coats, gloves, and hats. reese is such a great sport about all of that! we went to the great international store and bought all kinds of yummy american foods! ie: oreos, brownie mix, oatmeal, marshmallows, rice krispies, butterfingers, skittles, doritos, etc. obviously, all good things for you. :) i loved it! anyway, this post is supposed to be about christmas time in budapest. it's kind of a neat place. there are several different christmas markets up around the city with all kinds of local hungarian handcrafts to buy and of course, yummy festival foods.
we took this picture on friday at the vörösmarty ter market in front of gerbeaud's. (those of you who've been to budapest probably know the famous gerbeaud's cafe.) it's probably the most popular one based on the crowds there. we met our friend rhonda on friday for a little last minute christmas shopping before the crowds showed up.
i bought one of these ornaments as a souvenir. hungarians are famous for corn husk designs.
