VBS

it is vbs week at our church. this is a big deal for moms and kids. it's only my second vbs as a mom and i think i love it. it's a bit challenging getting out the door by 8:10, but it's doable. there is just a lot of preparation that goes on the night before. it helps make the morning go smoothly. matson has been staying home with different people each morning so he can get his nap (thank you jennifer, mary grace and mom) while reese and i head off for a fun morning.



it's reese's first real vbs and she loves it. she's digging in the rice pool in her class in this picture. she doesn't look too thrilled, but she was just looking around probably watching another child throw a tantrum or something. the first morning after i got her dressed in her official vbs t-shirt i had an "oh-my-gosh-you-are-so-big" moment. she just looks so big and i can't get over it!
and then when i see her walking with her class holding on to the rope, i have those same thoughts again! reese is the one on the far right of this pic.

as for me, i'm in the craft room. i'm co-leader with my friend sara. it's been fun and i think we work well together. today's craft was beads and everyone loved it. we have to prepare A LOT for all these crafts and here's a sample...bowls and bowls of necklaces and bracelets.


reese (and all the other 250 kids) had this same concentration beading their necklaces + bracelets.

oh, i almost forgot the most important thing - god's word! the wonderful verse the children are learning this week is psalm 18:30-32.



as for god, his way is perfect; the word of the lord is flawless; he is a shield for all who take refuge in him. for who is god besides the lord? and who is the rock except our god? it is god who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect.
