last week reese, matson and i went on a little road trip to visit my me-maw and paw-paw, reese + matson's great grandparents. they only live an hour and forty five minutes away, but you'd think they lived across the country for as often as we see them. i hope to make a better effort at seeing them.
me-maw and paw-paw have done a lot of traveling in their days. along the way they have collected a magnet from each state and made a map on their fridge. i remember playing with those magnets growing up and now my children are playing with them.
i absolutely love this picture. how many children can say their GREAT grandpa gives them piggy back rides?! 
after we enjoyed a hot lunch together and the dishes cleaned up in no time, great me-maw read a story to reese.
the kids had fun exploring the backyard too. i have many memories in that backyard, but they included these two huge {at least they were huge to me when i was little!} magnolia trees. we used to climb those trees all the time. i can't remember anyone falling out and getting hurt either! so sad the trees had to come down.
my parents were there too. gram's trying to hold on while matson wiggles free.
i couldn't help but take a picture of this saying my me-maw has in her living room. shows what she thought of raising her EIGHT children! me-maw collects chickens. i think just about everything in her house has a chicken {sometimes a rooster} on it.

i just noticed reese has the same expression on her face in three of the four pictures i posted. i think she had fun!
You definitely need to take advantage that your Me-Maw and Pa-Paw live so close and take your kids over there more frequently - especially since they are so young (your gparents)!
they aren't that young...me-maw is 83 and paw-paw 88!
