zoo practice

matt took good friday off so we headed to the zoo and met sara, isa and diego. the weather was just about perfect and the kids behaved most of the time. i took this opportunity to practice on my photography. i'm taking a class to learn how to shoot manually, so i practiced for the first time shooting in only manual mode. i practiced changing the aperture, shutter speed, and focus. it was hard when we went from the sunlight to shade so often, but it's getting me more familiar with my camera. i love it!

this is the only photo i cropped out of this bunch. there was a lady's behind off to the right that i didn't notice. i saw the kids walking like this and had to shoot so fast that i missed the big behind! ha!

matson didn't want to leave the fun. this seems to be a reoccurring problem. remember the pony ride at the rodeo?!
this one is my favorite! i lightened it a tiny bit, but basically this is how it looked straight out of the camera.
after getting so many great pictures on this practice round i even more excited to learn more!! i should have lots of photos to post while i'm taking my class b/c i'm going to be practicing a lot! my kids are going to forget what i look like with my big ole black camera in front of my face!
