it took reese a few minutes to actually open her eyes and sit up at our new morning start time, but once she did she was ready to start the new routine. the first thing she said was, "mom, did you have to do this when you were little?" i said, "yes i did and ... now i have to do it again with my kids!" she said, "and i'll have to do it again with MY kids." that's right, sweetie.
and i bet reese will make her kids pose for first day of school pics like me too! :) she wasn't too thrilled about it, but she amused me for a few minutes and i got some cute pics. my baby girl is going off to kindergarten - wow!
since reese has to wear a uniform (only navy blue, khaki, hunter green (boo) and white) we snazzed up her outfit with fun socks, shoes and a pink sparkly backpack. so fun!
the whole family was there for the big event.
mom gave one more pep talk as we sat in the blue commons room waiting to be called back to mrs. fisher's classroom - not that she needed it. she was ready. (that nervous look on her face is just her concentrating on the cartoon in the front of the room.) for the last week or so we've been talking all about what kindergarten would bring and how to respect her teacher and the other children, how to behave, obey, etc. she loved talking about all this stuff. such a confidence booster.
here we go! check out that pretty sparkly backpack. she loves it!
she was ready and working with in minutes of finding her seat. she's at a table with three other boys and within the first five minutes was already teaching them to share the crayons. the main container could stay on the other side of the table and they could put some in a cup on her and tyler's side of the table. that's my girl! matt, matson and i said our goodbyes and walked out the door. she never even turned around to see us leave. i'm glad she felt comfortable and confident on her first day of school. i did cry after we left her.
three o'clock rolled around pretty quickly so matson and i went to find our new kindergartener. this is what she looked like when we saw her. i loved it!
she loved her first day of school and said her favorite things were her teacher, the classroom and computer class. wowzers, what a big girl!

so exciting! Her backpack is awfully cute - but also huge!!! I hoep it is full of light fluffy items - lol.
unfortunately the only light fluffy item is a towel for rest time. the notebook that goes to and from school everyday is decently heavy. she hasn't complained about it at all, so i'm taking that as a sign that she's proud of herself and that she's just a big girl now! :)
