saturday we spent our afternoon on margitsziget (margaret island) which is located in the middle of the danube river. it's a huge, green park that's been open to the public since the middle of the 19th century. you can rent bikes or pedal buggies to cruise around on. there are two big water parks on the island. ...something to do next summer for sure!

we were greeted at the tip of the island by this fountain that is
synchronised with opera excerpts played over outdoor speakers. kind of cool...

this is my attempt to get a picture of reese in the leaves. they haven't all changed yet, but it's starting to! i'm so excited to see the beautiful colors of autumn! living in texas, you don't get to see that. you know how some people have never seen snow?! well, i've never seen the side of a hill covered in yellow, orange and red! i can't wait!

this is the side of margaret island looking over the danube at the city of pest. you can see parliment building if you enlarge the picture. the island has a great running trail around the outside, too. see the runners on the right? it has a dirt path
and an astroturf path! sweet, huh! memorial park needs to step it up a notch! :)

there are a lot of statues around the island honoring different poets.
