patience

patience is something i pray for a lot. particularly this morning. i'm not sure why i was so impatient this morning (perhaps b/c matson woke up 2 times last night and i was so sleepy?!), but i was all over reese to pick up her stickers. she'd strung them out everywhere and the living room was already a wreck and i couldn't handle one more thing, particularly something with a bunch of pieces! i asked her to pick them up a bunch of times and actually threatened not to take her to the park. i shouldn't have done that b/c i was totally not going to stay home. we all needed out. (i try not to threaten something thing if i'm not going to follow through.) anyway, i felt i was a bit harsh with her, so a little later i asked her to come here so i could apologize. she was a little reluctant to come, but i told her she wasn't in trouble. she stood before me looking so innocent and also intent on listening to what i was going to say. i told her i overreacted and i was sorry and asked her if she would forgive me. she said yes and leaned in for a hug - around my squatting knee (not a good snuggle hug, but a hug nonetheless). i then said to her that i will try to have more patience with her and she said, "and matson". ah! yes, and more patience with matson too. she knows i try. so sweet.

Try this prayer:

"God please grant me patience. RIGHT NOW!!!"

Reese used to pray for patience until he realized that more and more "problems" kept coming our way. How can we grow unless we struggle?
