a lunch to remember

it's important to have special women in your life. these are some of mine - in order from left to right: yours truly, my mom, my aunt marsha (who you may recognize from our vegas trip), my aunt alice, my great aunt bessie (my paw-paw's sister), my cousin kylie, my me-maw (mom's mom), and my aunt sandy (also from vegas and is kylie's mom).

the reason for this special ladies gathering was to get reconnected with my great aunt bessie. we didn't know it when we bought our house, but learned not long after that aunt bessie lives on our very same street, about six blocks down! isn't that crazy?! i'm so glad she lives so close b/c she's a pretty neat lady to know. she has lots of stories to share so i am learning a lot about my paw-paw's side of the family that i've never really known about.

aunt bessie and my me-maw are both in their 80's. don't they look great?!
we enjoyed a nice lunch at the cutest little cafe that's connected to a wonderful nursery, so we took our time and did what women do best - shopped. we also perused the 19th street shops in the heights the rest of the afternoon.

i have to say that my food made lunch all the more pleasant b/c my sandwich was delicious! i remember thinking this was the best sandwich i've ever had. i must go back and eat this again - with more special women in my life.
friday night before the lunch i was honored to have my grandparents and my great aunt over to my house. we enjoyed good conversation over a glass of wine and homemade key lime pie.

thanks for reminding me of how much fun that was. maybe we could do it on a regular basis and hear some more stories!
