we wish you a merry christmas,
we wish you a merry christmas,
we wish you a merry christmas,
and a happy new year!
reese sings that a lot right now and i figured she'd like to sing to the blog readers too! she even sang it to abigail, our friends' new baby, as she snuggled with her on saturday night. precious.
saturday night our friends, john and renee, threw a party to keep up with the neighborhood's "lights in the heights" fun and let me tell you it was fun!

we started out with delicious gumbo and drinks at their house and then got a little crew together, including the hazels and hunnifords, and strolled down to one of the main streets.

i had never been to lights in the heights so i didn't really know what we were getting into. i thought we would just walk along the sidewalks looking at the decorated houses but it was so much more than that! the streets were FILLED with people and first thing we knew we were being pushed out of the street by a big black swat team truck! we didn't mind thought b/c it came with good news that a parade was coming! what a great surprise! the kids, big + little, loved it! the beginning, great loud bagpipes!

reese and matson had the best views!

it's been so long since i've seen a parade. i loved it! and the kids were in awe. here's some of what we saw...

santa and mrs. claus!

the heights roller derby!

more bagpipes, but these were high school students.

santa again! how'd he do that? two times in the same parade. hmmmm...

gotta have handsome police officers on horses!

an old firetruck.

a quick family photo after the parade.

so when i said lights in the heights is "so much more", this is one of the things i was talking about. after the parade was over we turned around to the house that we were standing in front of and the fondue monks started rockin' on the front porch!

we stayed and danced

and partook of the cookies on the sidewalk. i blur-ily (yes i know that's not a real word) captured reese sharing with her bro.

the fondue monks were not the only front porch band we saw...

my reese, not to be confused with sarah's husband reese, snapped a good one of me and my dear friend sarah.

the rest of the time we walked around seeing all the fun lights.

peace to you all...
