swimming on our street

it's been a rainy summer so far and when i say rain, i mean RAIN. the last couple of weeks have been thunderstorm after thunderstorm. don't get me wrong, i like a good thunderstorm to keep me inside on a hot, humid summer day or as the background noise as i sleep, but enough is enough, especially when our outing to what i call the "toddler waterpark" is canceled. we need some fun in the sun!

between storms yesterday we put on our rain boots and ventured out to the end of our street...

a lot of our neighborhood was flooded - only the trucks tried getting through on our street.

probably not the best water to let our children play in, but the looks on their faces shows it was worth it!

as much as i'd like a little break from the rain, i like not having to water my plants. each time it rains reese tells me why i like the rain... "it's watering your bougainvilleas, mom." she's right! and, she even says bougainvilleas perfectly.
