School has started and our life is back to a schedule. We were sad to see summer end but I guess all good things come to an end.
Reese's first day of school started out by helping me with the Kindergarten Breakfast. As part of my position on the PTA (yes, me on the PTA!) I helped plan a kindergarten playdate before school started and a breakfast for the parents to attend after they dropped their new kindergartners off in their classroom. Last year I really appreciated this breakfast b/c I was a ball of tears and it was helpful to chat with other parents over a cup of coffee. Reese was eager to help me get ready for this breakfast.
We took the opportunity to snap a few pictures in the library. She's a big first grader now!! Storytime in the library is on those steps behind her. Mrs. Campbell sits in the rocking chair.
Her new first grade desk and BEE binder.
Don't think I missed out on the front porch pictures! Of course not!
These were actually taken on the second day of school. Since we needed to be at school at 7:30 to set up for the breakfast and I needed to feed Layla before I left and have her sleep as late as possible we opted to take these on the second day. It made for a much smoother photo shoot.
Don't be fooled by her jacket. There was not a hint of coolness in the air. She takes it to school b/c she gets chilly in her classroom.
Matson has some wild bedhead in the mornings. I think it's SO cute! Although I think HE's so cute, so of course his bedhead is cute. Layla's got some crazy hair too. Now that I think about it I should take a picture of Reese's bedhead too. Her's can get wildy tangled.
Matson REALLY wanted a picture of him and Layla, so here you go. Not sure what she's thinking about all this.
Overall the start to school has been a good challenge for us all. The mornings are good. It's the evenings that we are still trying to figure out. Reese enjoys school and the fact that she got to be the first line leader of the girls. That position also has a second component of responsibility - restroom monitor. It's her favorite.
So there you have it. Reese is now a big first grader!
