skirt 'n boots

it's time to debut the first skirt i have made for reese.

i LOVE the way it turned out!

and, reese loves the pockets for her treasures.

it's called The Market Skirt. i found a free tutorial on a blog i like to read called MADE. here is a link directly to the tutorial. the blogger gal, dana, has the best step-by-step instructions and pictures which was so helpful, especially for this novice. i showed reese the picture on the computer with five little girls all wearing this skirt, but in different colors and let her choose which color she'd like to have. of course she picked pink!

it was the perfect skirt to wear with her boots for the chuck wagon lunch and singing performance at school on tuesday. more pics from that coming soon.

before and after: shirt

here's another little shirt i made for my niece, emersyn (my brother's daughter). i actually bought this shirt when reese was a baby with good intentions of doing something like this for her, but when i found it in my sewing stuff when reese was already three years old, i realized i needed to give it to someone else. my niece was the perfect girl!

no picture of little e in her shirt either. i'll post emersyn and all her cuteness when i get a pic.

bunny shirts

i think sisters should have at least one matching outfit, so when matt's brother and sister-in-law had another baby girl i couldn't help myself but to make the girls matching shirts! they were so fun to make. the hopping bunnies practically hopped onto the shirt for me!

i used the same fabric as the flower shirt for reese because i had a some left over and those bunnies are just too cute all polka dotted!

i hope to get a picture of the girls wearing their shirts together, but their momma has her hands full with a preschooler and a baby.

appliqued t-shirt

i like to think i know how to sew, but really i don't. i kind of fumble my way through a project. i know practice makes perfect, but i want it perfect the first time! is that too much to ask?! sometimes i don't like the way something turns out, but this time i did. this weekend i appliqued a t-shirt for reese who was so sweet to model it for me this morning after swim class.

this is her fish face... gotta make taking pictures fun!

i added the little button in the middle to finish it off, but also to cover up the not-so-good-looking-middle. it wasn't so easy sewing around those small petals. i had to rip the thread out at least 8 times before i rounded a whole petal and thought it looked good, only to then find out i sewed the shirt together!! i ripped that out too and did it right the next time. practice makes perfect.
