easter :: he is risen!

it is a beautiful thing to be able to teach my children about jesus, especially why we celebrate easter. we have been talking, singing and reading about jesus dying on the cross for our sins, the stone being rolled away, the angel talking to mary magdelene, and most importantly jesus rising from the dead.  our favorite hymn to sing is the classic "christ the lord is risen today". hearing the kids sing "a-a-a-a-a-lleluia" is simply precious!!

gram and papa joined us for a fun easter weekend in houston. we enjoyed a nice dinner out on friday night and then relaxing on the back porch with matt's parents joining us for a glass of wine. the kids thought it was cool to have both sets of grandparents there together. it's been a long, long time since that has happened...before kids - maybe even at our wedding.

saturday morning we hit the houston zoo. i took a bunch of pics this time b/c when we were there the weekend before matt and i didn't have two extra set of hands. i have to admit it was nice to go without my camera and just enjoy an outing. believe it or not i do that often, but not this time...

this is dad's famous super-boost that the kids eat up! of course both kids need a ride.

 i'm fascinated with the fish and how creative god got with them. amazing!

 the sea lion is matson's favorite.
 my mom likes the birds.
 papa liked playing tricks on matson. they both ate it up!

these guys gave us the best show with their jumps around the fence and even a kiss! i don't know if it really was, but i promise it looked like a kiss.
 this guy posed nicely for a photo.
 one not very happy kiddo. despite his sour face he had a ball!

 reesey stole her dad's hat and gave us her best "hook 'em!"
 to finish our time at the zoo papa treated us all to matson's favorite train ride!
 wow he looks so big here!
on sunday morning after a wonderful worship service we enjoyed a nice brunch at our house complete with mimosas and decorated eggs.

thanks gram and papa for spending easter with us this year. i hope you enjoy this photo of you with two of your two grandchildren. i think it's pretty cute.
